We are still buzzing over here after our spectacular, spooky Halloween party!! This was not our first Halloween rodeo, in fact, Jungle Academy has produced 3 Halloween events and our hope is to carry on with the tradition! And while this may have not been our first, it was certainly our largest and most collaborative (200 dressed up kids, parents, even grandparents!) Between our Halloween Team and new sponsors, the community really showed up for this event and we are so grateful!
We learned a few things over the years, the first that it WILL rain. Since October is right in the peak of our rainy season, it’s not a question of IF it will rain, it is a question of WHEN it will rain. Knowing this, we made sure that our entire event was covered. This kept everyone close. We were able to see old friends and meet new ones too! Kids could run under one roof. It felt cozy and allowed the parents to relax and enjoy themselves with their children. The venue we chose was large and spacious…everyone could spread out and we encouraged it by making sure there were lots of stations to move around and discover. While candy was definitely a part of the event, it wasn’t the center focus. We included games and prizes, which led to a bit of candy. Interacting with the children, watching their faces win the candy and prizes reminded us of why Halloween is so special.
Our students played a big role in the success of this event…Making daily decisions around what we would produce for the event, coming up with music ideas, creating decorations from scratch, setting up for the event, working the games and even the front door. They did a fantastic job and got first-hand experience on what it takes to create a community wide event.
At the heart of Jungle Academy, is our community. Keeping Halloween open to all ages was a priority for this event. With such an awesome outcome, we look forward to putting on more events that bring together this spirit! A huge Thank You to our Sponsors for all of their support and donations.
